Hunter's 1st Birthday!

Hunter and I spent the week before his birthday both sick. Me with a cold and he with a stomach bug. Then the week of his birthday I got the stomach bug. His birthday was on a Tuesday and the day before I'd stayed home in bed all day sick. So this particular Tuesday, the day of his birthday, I had wanted to have a celebratory breakfast of pancakes or donuts or something. Not happening. It's just so miserable to be sick when you want to celebrate such a huge milestone. And to be sick two weeks in a row. Ugh.

The morning of his birthday Hunter crawled into the kitchen to find a toy I had set out for him.

Korey made this banner after I pestered him for weeks about having all the perfect birthday decorations. :) The monkey face on the end he designed and that's what became the theme of his birthday party. That's another post.

Here's Hunter getting ready for breakfast.

My birthday boy all dressed! Thanks go out to Aunt Kristin for the shirt.

We took him to Chick Filet for dinner where he got to try french fries and chicken strips. Which were really mine but who wants to eat when you've been sick?

Then Korey took him for a ride in the high chair around the restaurant. For some reason, we really love their high chairs. I looked one up online but they are too expensive for us.

After dinner we headed over to Grandma's house to open some presents.

He got this cool set of cars which you can pull back and release them and they will speed across the floor.

And he got a set of stacking cups which he LOVES.

Then Grandma and Korey decided to race the cars on the kitchen floor.

Then we celebrated with cupcakes from The Cake Stand. Seriously delish. You get this huge cupcake for only about $3 and change. Two people can share it. And they have filling!

Hunter loved it and had no problems digging in.

My baby then...sigh.

And my baby now.

P.S. He still lets me rock him every night and sing to him before he goes to sleep. I'm so thankful for that.

Not a Morning Person

When Hunter wakes up, he is grumpy. He crys when he wakes up. He just wants to be held. There's no chance of changing his diaper first thing because it causes a riot. When I put him in the high chair he's still upset. But then I give him food and that makes him feel better. Too bad he takes after his momma in this respect.

Vegas

Back in April Korey and I took a quick trip to Vegas before I started my new job. (I don't remember if I blogged about this). It was our vacation, although mini, since I knew I wouldn't get any time off once I started my new job. I'm only posting a few pics of the highlights.

This is outside the Bellagio hotel. I thought this captured the essence of Vegas.

Korey and I dressed up one night so we could go out to a nice dinner. We found out that Bobby Flay had a restaurant called Mesa in Caesar's Palace so we got reservations. It was delicious! If you can't have Bobby cook for you I guess his restaurant will do.

Korey recently finished an application for the iPad. It's called Colormix HD by Eightfold Education. He got contacted to do the art for it and for this he only had to draw black and white pictures and not full color ones. This app allows you to color pictures (like a coloring book) on the iPad. So all of you that have one download it now! There are animals, cars, and other vehicles you can color. We think it's $.99 but we don't have an iPad haha.

In Vegas we were walking through the shops at Caesar's Palace (we didn't stay there by the way) and came across an Apple store. So we ran in to find an iPad. I may or may not have stepped in front of a guy who was heading for the only open iPad so that we could look up his app. Korey is inspecting the final product here.

Scrolling through it...

Here's the closeup!

Congrats Korey on another successful finished product! It's just exciting for us to see his finished work because sometimes he doesn't always get to see it because he may not get mailed a copy of the book or whatever it is he did.

Doodlin' Pad

A couple of weekends ago the three of us ventured off to meet my sister at Sam's because she was a proud, card-carrying member and Korey had a book there that he had illustrated.

And voila! Here it is. It's called My Giant Doodlin' Pad and it's available at Sam's, Costco, and I think B&N. It was only $7.18. This thing was huge and has lots of pages to color on and even has 100 stickers included. Can't beat that deal!

Here it is laying on the table among the many other books. Korey may or may not have arranged it to where his showed.

The proud illustrator and his assistant. His name is on the second page inside, just not on the cover.

See how tall this thing is?

I am reading to Hunter from one of the other books while we waited on Korey who was taking more pics.

Congrats Korey!
