6 Months

This is my favorite son! :) I can't believe it's already been 6 months. Sometimes it's hard to remember what he looked like as a baby and when Korey and I see pictures of him when he was smaller we can hardly believe it. He is changing every day it seems. I love every minute I get to spend with him.

Dear Hunter,

At 6 months your face lights up and you smile whenever you see either me or your dad. You love your stuffed monkey because he helps you go to sleep at night (thanks LD and Nanners) and you are moving away from the paci unless it's a really exhausting day. You scream in a very shrill, loud voice whenever you are tired. Thank goodness we have figured what that one means! You love playing with your feet and can even suck on your toes. Wonder if I ever was that flexible. You babble constantly and say da-da, blah-blah, and we are working on ma-ma. You are doing well with the solids you are eating although I think you are still getting the hang of the fact that the spoon needs to go in your mouth. Your bottom two teeth have already come in, too! You immediately calm down whenever someone plays patty-cake with you or reads you a story. You have already rolled over and we are working on helping you to sit on your own. You are even starting to notice the dogs and your eyes follow them around the room whenever they wrestle each other. I think I saw you smiling at Camo just this week. We love you very much and we're so proud to be your parents!

Off to Grandma's

We FINALLY made it to Houston to see Korey's family. We were FINALLY all well and healthy. Hunter's cousin Brandon was turning one so we decided to help him celebrate and enjoy a belated Christmas with Nana.

We had to stop halfway because little man needed a break from the car seat. Korey held him and he immediately grabbed the wheel. Uh oh.

We made it! While Nana and Miss Corey were at a baby shower we hung out at Kevin and Miss Corey's house. Here are the brothers and their babies. Brandon and Hunter are 6 months apart.

Dressed for the party!

Nana and Brandon rocking a shirt that goes with the theme "The Hungry Caterpillar." Miss Corey's dad read the book to all the kids during the party.

There were caterpillar hats for all the kids to wear.

Miss Corey totally rocked on all the homemade decorations since she is a teacher!
The caterpillar cake! She and her mom made cupcakes and made them into the shape of the caterpillar. The red head was Brandon's smash cake.

The Scott's who are well...for now!

Hunter and his da-da. Which he has started saying that over and over again. But I don't think he is associating it with Korey so Korey doesn't win. haha! I am working on ma-ma with him. :)

I got a break and Nana fed Hunter.

Brandon.is.not.happy with the whole smash cake thing. We never got to see him eat it because he just was not going to have it.
I jumped in to finish Hunter's bottle so Nana could watch Brandon eat his cake. Or not! So notice I'm wearing a scarf. Can't find the burp cloth? Just use the scarf! It came in very handy that day since there were a bunch of people in the house and I didn't have time to keep running for the diaper bag.

We spent the night at Nana's. Hunter is wearing the bib that we gave Korey's mom for Christmas last year as a way of telling her we were pregnant. Awww! No bibs this Christmas for the Grandma's!
Hunter seems to be on a solid strike right now. He will take a bottle but has regressed and is refusing to open his mouth for the spoon. He was doing fine before taking solids but not now. My whole family has tried. I've tried. So I made Korey try while we were in Houston. I've tried different foods too. We've tried to make him laugh. And get this...he will laugh but he's learned to laugh with his mouth CLOSED. He kind of just looks at me with a mad face sometimes. So much personality! Here he is pushing his lips out in a pucker because he does not want to open them for the spoon. Ugh. Once the food is in his mouth he will swallow it and doesn't spit it back out so I guess he is just being stubborn. I have no idea where he gets that trait from! :)

And I've just realized that I didn't take any pics of our quick little Christmas with his Nana. I even brought the Christmas onesie to put him in and I guess I didn't get pics of him wearing that. Oh well. Here is Hunter after a bath in one of the bath towels at Nana's house. Nothing like being at Grandma's!

You can see a video of him talking with his Nana on facebook. My mom and I have joked that when he goes to school the teacher will have a pre-written note that says, "Hunter was talking in class" that she is going to send home with him every day. It's non-stop!
You better believe that once Korey and I left the birthday party I started brainstorming about what Hunter's first birthday party theme should be and wear we should have it. There's only 6 months left until the big day! There is lots to do!

Do You Freecycle?

Not recycle, but freecycle! This is the free version of Craigslist! You sign up based on where you live and if you have something to give away you just post it and whoever wants it responds. You leave it on your porch and they come pick it up! They don't even ring your doorbell. No cash to deal with nor people to meet! I consider it safer than Craigslist plus it's FREE! If you have something that would normally sell in a garage sale that you don't want to take the time to sell you can post it and someone will come pick it up. Or you can watch the emails to see what someone is giving away. Or you can post something you need, like I did, and someone will respond that they have it.

I just picked up this space saver seat in fabulous condition for my mom so Hunter could have a place to sit at her house. And it was FREE! These retail for at least $50. FREE!

Who Can Resist This Face?

It's a mystery how much food Hunter actually eats versus what he wears!

Christmas

Now that Hunter is here Korey wanted to start a tradition where he read the Christmas story to Hunter. So before we started opening presents on Christmas morning, Korey read while Hunter listened.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care...

Me and Hunter on Christmas morning...our first Christmas with him! Note - I am in my pj's and Hunter is in his pj's.

Hunter got a red wagon which he was a little scared of when Korey pushed him around the house in it. (That's a dog kong by the wheel.)
At one of our baby showers we had gotten an activity center so we put that together, ok really Korey put it together while I watched, and set it out for Hunter.
Note - I am not in my pj's and I have showered and got my face on. Hunter is still in his pj's. I didn't anticipate him having a meltdown in the middle of Christmas morning so he had to be put down for a nap. Two hours later he reemerged as a happy baby and we proceeded with our Christmas morning!
I am showing him the drum that we got him. Since his dad knows how to play I thought it best if we started early with lessons. :)
Not sure if he was on the verge of being fussy or distracted by the toys.
This was taken at my mom's house. By this point I am stuffy and not feeling well. This is T-Minus 5 hours until THE FEVER hit me. Hunter is modeling a onesie that says "Baby's First Christmas" thanks to his Nana.
Our first Christmas as a family! The annual fireplace shot at my parent's house.
My parents with Hunter. Poor thing looks fussy. He and I were not feeling well.
My uncle and cousin also joined us but my camera battery died before I could take pics of them so imagine a pic of them here _________. Oh and my sister and her husband were there, too.
By 6pm I was running THE FEVER so we left. Korey packed everything up while I crawled into the car and two days later when I was looking at Hunter's toys I couldn't even remember some of the stuff he had gotten thanks to my delusional state. I spent Christmas night in bed with a raging cold and a horrible fever. At times I could barely breathe because I was so stuffed up and I was so upset that I was sick again that I just cried. It stinks being so sick you can't even take care of your baby.
Other than the sickness that has plagued us for the past two months we had a wonderful Christmas! It's so good to be with family and celebrate.

Christmas Eve

For Christmas Eve, my family comes over to our house where we all munch on appetizers and then head off together to the Christmas Eve service. This year since Hunter was sick I stayed home with him while my family went without me. :(

Here is my dad with Hunter.

While everyone was gone I decided that we should take some pics together. Easier said than done. Here he is posing in front of the presents under our tree.
After the Christmas Eve service we headed over to my parent's house where we ate. Here is my sister and her husband. They are always photogenic when they take a photo together.

Every year on Christmas Eve, "Santa" comes and brings everyone one gift each. Here is Hunter "enjoying" his gift from Santa.
"Santa" makes us play the Right-Left game. We each get a numbered bag with something in it and my mom reads a story with the words right and left in it and we have to pass it until the story is over. Korey and I ended up with tickets to a Cirque de Soleil performance! And we just happened to both get them in our bags once the game was over.
